Egret wtih Roses

Fish Mother
Acrylic on canvas painting with gold leaf by Niki Broyles. This a different kind of mermaid, one that emerges from imagination and memory, and is connected to nature energy. From an interview in the 1980s, Niki: “There’s a place in your mind, an experience you can’t remember, but you know you’ve had it. The painting takes you back to what you’ve forgotten, to who you are…I’m a channel, a vessel through which rememberance or recall comes.”
Sleeping
Acrylic on canvas painting by Niki Broyles. To begin a painting I first select the size of canvas, then decide whether to use it vertically or horizontally. That fixes part of it: since my figures are usually of a certain size, a vertical canvas imples a standing figure, a horizontal canvas a sitting one. ~Niki, from an interview in the 1980s
